The Build Your Resources program offers varied, relevant, monthly resource workshops available to the entire community, regardless of income level. Subjects will include many of the resources identified for success in the Getting Ahead program such as:

October 24 – 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. How to Avoid Falling For a Jerk
This last installment of the 4-week workshop series is for those who have experienced the heartache of a failed relationship and those who desire to prevent such heartache! Presented by the Marriage Resource Center of Frederick County.

November 7 – 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Racial Justice in American Communities A timely and vital presentation by Dr. Tim Wolfe of Mount St. Mary’s University. Come and be a part of a positive conversation about racial justice.

November 14 – 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. How to Have the Money Talk
Do you fight with your loved ones about money? Does it cause conflict, tension and fear? Learn tips and strategies to talk with those you love about your finances so that you can gain financial AND emotional peace. Presented by Jane Helm of Money Mentor Group.

November 28 – 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. Credit Café
Receive a free credit score, a half hour credit counseling appointment, and attend a Master Your Credit workshop. Presented by Interfaith Housing Alliance of Frederick. Pre-Registration REQUIRED. You MUST have an appointment to attend. Call 301-447-6102 ext. 17 for details.

December 1 – TIME TBA Beautiful Gift Wrap
Are you frustrated by your lack of gift wrapping skills? Come learn how to present your gifts with beautiful, creative wrapping! HELD AT EMMITSBURG LIBRARY.

December 5 – 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Self-Care and Emotional Well-Being presented by Gerald Rooth of Mount St. Mary’s University Counseling Department

December 12 – 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Small Steps to Health and Wealth
This program is designed to motivate participants to implement behavior change strategies that will also help improve health and personal finances. Join us to build both physical and financial resources in a non-judgmental and fun environment.  Presented by Carrie Sorenson from University of Maryland Extension.  HELD AT EMMITSBURG LIBRARY.

In partnership with the Frederick County Workforce Services, Seton Center, Inc.’s Outreach Office will host three job search workshops. These opportunities to brush up on your job search and interview skills are free, open to the general public and especially recommended for those planning to attend the upcoming Job Fair at Mother Seton School on Monday, October 8, 2018. Below is a list of opportunities. Registration for these workshops is required by calling 301.447.6102 x 18.
2. Wednesday, September 19 from 2-3 PM – Review information on the employers participating in the 2018 Job Fair and what to wear to stand out in the crowd (in a good way)
3. Monday, October 1 from 10:30-11:30 AM – Learn how to start conversations with employers at the 2018 Job Fair. Unless otherwise noted, workshops are FREE and open to the public.
